AI-Origin Eligibility

USOVAI is for works where artificial intelligence plays a meaningful role in the audiovisual creation process.

What USOVAI is for

USOVAI is intended for audiovisual works where artificial intelligence plays a meaningful role in the creation process. The AI contribution should be central to how the work looks, sounds or is structured — not a minor post-production step applied to otherwise conventional content.

Examples of qualifying AI involvement

The following are examples of AI contributions that typically qualify: AI video generation — using models to generate video sequences or full films AI animation — characters, environments or motion generated by AI tools AI imagery — scenes or visual content created primarily through image-generation models AI voice synthesis — dialogue, narration or voice performance generated by AI AI music composition — original scores or soundtracks produced by AI models AI-assisted script or production design where AI shapes the creative output AI compositing or VFX — visual effects where AI is the primary generation method

Examples that are unlikely to qualify on their own

The following uses of AI are generally not sufficient to qualify a work for USOVAI on their own, without additional meaningful AI contribution to the audiovisual content: Adding an AI-generated thumbnail to otherwise conventional footage Applying minor automatic enhancement or noise reduction Using AI to generate basic subtitles or captions Simple AI upscaling of existing non-AI content Using an AI writing tool for a script where all visuals are conventionally filmed Borderline cases are assessed individually. If you are unsure, submit your work and describe the AI contribution clearly in your metadata. Reviewers will assess accordingly.

Hybrid works

Works combining AI-generated and conventional material are welcome provided the AI element is substantive and clearly disclosed. The description should explain what was AI-generated and what was not. USOVAI does not define a rigid percentage threshold, as the significance of AI involvement depends on how central it is to the work's identity.

Review and appeals

AI-origin eligibility is assessed during content review. If a submission is flagged as not meeting the eligibility criteria, the creator will receive an explanation and, where possible, the opportunity to provide clarification.
